Dear oh dear!

How fantastic is this tshirt? (please excuse my old lady facial expression!) Found it in my Dad's wardrobe and I think it is hilarious, by Lovenskate .
Well, it's 8.42 am, I'm up, fed and dressed - quite impressive for me! Today I have the intention of putting the next issue up on screen ... if everything goes well.
Also I went to the most amazing place on Wednesday called London College of Communication (it used to be London school of print, I think), I'm not applying there but wooooahh .... it was insane. I was completely blown away by the letterpress room, I'd only seen them in museums before but it was so cool that they were just loads of them there to use and the print rooms, wooaah they were top (and the technician was called Barbara and she was rocking the I'm forty-something-and-I-oil-machines-all-day-yet-i-am-a-million-times-cooler-than-you'll-ever-be look)! I think the tour lady was a bit fed up of Martin (who takes photographs and the like, check 'em out ) and I oooing and ahhhing at everyroom we went in.

Anyway, it's 8.50am and BBC breakfast news say that theres gonna be a maximum of 15 degrees, so I better go and embrace it!

Staying in tonight and looking forward to it very much so!

Where ever there are cats there are dogs. If you got the dogs you got bitches

Hello.
These are some lame-o photobooth snaps of my jumper I have been working on. It's just a John Lewis sporting jumper and I've sewn some beaded elbow patches on and did the front. It's really nice for just bumming out in.

Collecting Things //1

BFR mag contributor Jane O'Sullivan shares with us her collection ....

I am an awful woman for a carboot …..cannot resist them and would be traumatized if the monthly one here in rural Ireland was cancelled.
Why ….well because it is the place that I get a lot of my inspiration from .
To me it’s a fantastical and surreal beachcomb….I never know what will show up and the Sunday I found these little beauties was a great one.
I got fifty magazines from between 1945-1956 all with peggy in pencil on the top left hand corner….for about 10 english pounds.
What it is that I like about them is the overwhelming amount of images in the content…..just so many ,its going to take all winter ,just to digest them.
From my point of view ,the actual images trigger off ideas for my drawings ….I have to put them into another context of course …but they are a GREAT STARTING POINT !
There is a great return to the handmade …noticeable throughout all the arts and it has always been my aesthetic……one that feels true to me.
I hope that you enjoy the images and that they will inspire you.

How awesome! You can check out Jane's brilliant drawings here  .
And if you want your collection featured email barbarafr@hotmail.co.uk

Sooooooo....
I'm gonna be pathetic and not do blog posts for a while, because I have been a bit rubbish at the whole school thing so far this year and need to pull myself together. And my camera is being realllly annoying. But, don't worry hopefully I shall have something exciting to show you within the month! Also I'm thinking of making a film, don't know what on, don't know when - but a some stage in the near future!

Stay super cos you are number 1!

Blah, blah, blah post

If you don't know RUBBISH , then I say one must get with the programme!
They have launched four genius sets of finger puppets (London, Paris, Milan +NY) as tributes to all our  fave fashion characters.
I'm not sure which ones I like the best - it's a toss up between Viktor & Rolf and Andre Leon Talley!

Ok, so the photo above does not give the subject justice...
But basically Gap has got a load of mini sets from the new film Fantastic Mr Fox, this one is from High Street Ken. I've seen the trailer for it, and if it wasn't for my parents I wouldn't have guessed that it was stop motion animation , which is a shame because looking at the models it looks like so much love and time and energy has gone it to them. I suppose, we'll just have to wait to see the film to judge.

This sounds really fake and cringey or whatever ... but on Sunday I saw this film which completely changed my views on what I do and just loads of other shit. It's called "Beautiful Losers". I think it's still possibly showing at the ICA????

Ciao!! i've got loadssss of work to doooo

You have an apple for a head? Yes.

I LOVE HIDEOUS JUMPERS.

There. I said it.
Well, Pat Butcher has always been one of my style icons, so I guess it comes as no surprise really!
I love the feel of itchy acrylic rubbing against my skin (well, with the exception of my school uniform).
When I am in a lazy bum mood, I like to throw one on with black school tights and lounge around my flat. I don't think my friends particularly like them, but pfft.
Sorry for the lame-o quality photos (I'm a bit rubbish with the self timer). The pink and blue jumper is smashing, I got it from Rokit and it's a brilliantly hideous handknit ralph lauren xmas sweater (bill cosby would be proud!!!)

Scrap Challenge!

I could apologise for being rubbish at posting but i won't cos that is b-o-r-ing!

But, I'll tell you wants not boring .......

... it's no lie that I like American Apparel.
In fact I love it.
Too much of my money goes there.
I don't feel dumb spending £17 on a plain t-shirt.
But I do look dumb trying to pull of my snazzay leggings and leotard and matching headband down Sainsbury's.
Even my Mum shops there, so it can't be too bad!

Yeah, so how cool is this "bag-o-scraps" ?
Basically it's AA's take on the remnant box in the haberdashery department of Peter Jones, but wayyyyy more hipster, featuring all our fave fabrics, like the afrika print, neon splatter paint and classic tri-blend.

It costs £8 for a bundle. Not too sure if I would buy it. Though I would be happy to receive it!

Talkin' bout my generationn

What do you do when, its pouring down with rain, you have holes in your shoes, the schools no make up policy is making you look 12 years old and you just want to get home put on your pjamas and watch Masterchef? You go to the newsagents and spend £13.10 on magazines and a tube of smarties.
I only bought ELLE because it was the issue I worked on whilst I was interning there, quite impressed to see that the pic I chose of Lily Donaldson dancing on p.51 made it into the issue (whoop!).

Have a laverly evening

ps. does any one watch that Philip Starck programme on the BBC? What on earth was up with his trousers on Monday night?!!?

There's an English man in every coward.

I saw the September Issue on Sunday down the kings road with the parents (plus I ate some brilliant white chocolate ice cream throughout) and I must say Grace Coddington is the shittt. She just seems to up for doing what she wants, how she wants and loves keeping the romance alive (as well as standing up to Wintour). I've kind of wanted to go into serious (like scary, Devil Wears Prada-esque) fashion journalism for a while now, but now I think I'd rather do my own thing for a while and muck around without having to please the demographic , or whatever. Keep things fun. Not necessarily young, I mean alive.

I'm thinking of getting issue//13 printed properly, make it nice and big and full of nonsense. If you want to contribute drawings, stories, poems, photos, fashion or whatever you like, please email submissions to barbarafr@hotmail.co.uk . Smashing!

The elbow patch project is coming on coolio, I've moved onto bigger beads (I'll post photos once they're sewn onto something). The small ones were too tedious. I think I'm suffering from elbow patch syndrome, I'm just noticing them blinking everywhere! My geography teacher who I have on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays has very, very nice ones; I spend most of the lesson looking at those rather than listening to him go on about British colonial rule. They are very nice, cord on tweed. Sorry Mr G, I sound v. obsessive.

Well, I think I am going to go. Might do my post on granny jumpers tomorrow ....

Bath time now!!
