THURSDAY

Ok, so I'm gonna tell you about this super cool guy.
Like crazy cool.
One day when I'm older I'm gonna write an epic period piece on him.

His name is Ludwig II of Bavaria.
And he became King when he was eighteen.
Because of his fantastical ideas he was named  the "Dreamer King" but later he became just the "Mad King", which happens to most dreamers in my opinion.

Basically he commissioned loads of crazy, kitsch, extravagant palaces and castles with his pocket money.
The Palace of Versailles heavily influenced the buildings he wanted to be erected (man, Marie Antoinette was such a babe, we'll save her for another day!).

This is the first building he commissioned .. New Swanstone Castle

Which Disney have very cheekily taken a lot of "inspiration" from

Which was very close to this castle  that is father had built at  Hohenschwangau.

"Yeah, check out my crib ... this is like the basement, where we like chill out in the shell boat and soak in all the venus vibes"

But, then he ended up in loads and loads of debt, which wasn't good at all.
And then the doctors came after him in the night because they thought he had a mental illness and wanted to over throw him as king. Many people suspected that he committed suicide and here is his memorial in Starnberger Lake

End of lesson.
More cool people to come (if you want)

ps. this is another sick castle

WEDNESDAY

Last Friday the whole Ryantown Crewdem heading up north to Staffordshire, for a super exciting show .... YOUR JOB IS TO TAKE THIS WORLD APART AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AGAIN ... BUT EVEN BETTER!!! at Shire Hall, by R. Ryan. And it was a pretty brilliant show. Featuring ceramics, papercuts, prints, rulers, Staffordshire dogs (+cats) , as well as the original artwork from The Gift by Carol Anne Duffy (who was there too, what a terrific book). My favourite bits were the black+white ceramics with no words on them, soo beautiful. Anyway, here are a load of pictures, nice one dadsie.

The show runs until 9th January 2011.

MONDAY

You know when you really want to like something.
And you give it a really good shot ... but for some reason it doesn't click.
That happened to me today.
I bought "Oh Comely" magazine, really wanting to like it and for it to be my new mag as I saw it in WH Smith between Company and Diva mags. But to be honest, it was just a tad of a disappointment. I don't know what it was about the mag, but there was something I wasn't sure about, maybe it was too self aware.
But I will give it a second chance ... one day!

ANYWAY
Hope you all had a blast of a Halloween. Twas a good 'un.
I feel bad for wearing the same costume two nights in a row, but I'm pretty sure east ldn and west ldn don't exchange fancy dress notes so it's all safe hahahaha

And here is an outfit because I'm feeling kinda generous tonight (and wanted to use the tripod)

blouse: h+m
skirt: handmade
boots: office
bag: marc by mj

PLUS my new favourite fashion accessory, the best plastic bag in town! Reading "I'm no mug, I'm in the VIP club", it's my current go-to bag. Screw "ecobags", it's all about polymers for me! Anyone got any fave plastic bags?

Have a lovely evening
Over and out!

ps. How brilliant is this photo? It's of the managers, station staff and cleaners @ Westminster and Embankment station. Snuck this sneaky snack on our trip to the transport depot last week (which I kinda enjoyed)!
